More Details

Materials
Viscoelastic Polymer properties:
* Conforms to body shape, does not allow user to 'bottom out'.
* Reduces skin shear.
* Dissipates body heat.
* Cushion will not absorb urine, odours, etc and can be cleaned with disinfectant.
* Same shear characteristics as human skin
* Easily cleaned with disinfectant
* Won't absorb body fluids
* Xray transparent
* Reusable, durable, repairable
* Fire rated as self extinguishing
* Self healing if punctured

Cover
The Basic Cover is standard. This is durable stretch knit material that is washable. Incontinent and replacement covers are also available.

Application
Suitable for people at low to medium risk of developing pressure injuries
The manufacturer recommends this cushion for manual and power wheelchairs, truck or taxi seats or for other uses requiring significantly reduced high pressure injuries, vibration and shear.
The low profile allows users to effectively reach the floor for more efficient foot assisted propulsion.
It also conforms to pre contoured foam or rigid cushions to maximise stability and positioning when required.

Considerations

All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct choice and depth of foam, correct inflation level) , a different product may need to be considered.
The gel cells on the top layer of the cushion can be punctured
Ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front.
It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product.
