The following provides a guide for selecting a manually adjustable bed that may best suit an individuals needs. Also consider alternatives to purchasing such as hiring a bed, or the addition of different equipment items to the already existing bed. An occupational therapist will be able to help with this decision or contact the Independent Living Centre.

A pressure relief overlay bed pad made from a viscoelastic polymer, which adjusts to body movement and reduces risk of skin shear. Available in five sizes (three of which are Full Mattress Pads). In addition the Combo pad is a bed pad which can be folded into a wheelchair pad.
Three styles of head protection pads containing viscoelastic polymer which offers good protection from shearing and pressure. They consist of a Donut Head Pad, Horseshoe Head Pad and a Contoured Pad.
Pads containing dry viscoelastic polymer which provides protection from shearing and pressure. They fasten around the heel and ankle with a hook and loop attachment. These pads are indicated for long term care settings and for protection in traction devices. Available in two thicknesses.
A pad containing viscoelastic polymer with a cut out section to accommodate and protect the heel after a hip or knee prosthesis has been fitted or in any situation where the leg has been immobilised and the heel is at risk.
