Short Description

An inflatable PVC mattress overlay with double welded seams, which
provides some relief from pressure when inflated correctly. It is
washable, stain resistant, bacteriostatic and perfumed to assist in
elimination of odours when used by people with incontinence. Provides comfort and protection for persons at low risk of developing pressure sores.

Structure
50 mm diameter holes are designed to assist with air circulation around the person's body and to help dissipate heat and moisture
There are three openings into the overlay:
. The large red opening enables rapid deflation in one second, (eg in case of cardiac arrest when medical staff require a firm surface to perform CPR).
. Small opening with one way valve for inflation by mouth or with hand pump. Inflation with hand pump takes 1 1/2 minutes.
. Medium opening for inflation with electric pump (electric pump not available in Australia.

Attachment
Adjustable hook and loop straps fit over each corner of the underlying mattress to hold it in place

Application
May assist those who have a low risk of developing pressure sores

Factors To Consider

* People lying on this mattress overlay still need to be turned frequently to prevent pressure areas developing
* . Do not over inflate mattress as this reduces pressure relieving properties and may damage the mattress
* Once person is lying on inflated mattress, check that inflation is adequate by ensuring there is space for a flat hand under the person's buttocks
