Short Description
A range of stainless steel tactile ground surface indicators. Available as stemmed or stemless tactile indicators, tactile plates and screw in tactile indicators.
Models
Non - Stemmed
Flat underside
For use on surfaces that cannot be drilled i.e. tiles & other ceramics
Stemmed
8mm long, 5mm diameter stem on the underside
For easily drilled surfaces like concrete, timber etc.
Countersunk
Countersunk hole in centre for stainless steel screw
For use on carpeted surfaces or easily drilled substrates eg, Concrete, Stone, Masonry, Timber, Vinyl, Rubber etc.
This design requires an 8mm (diameter) hole to be drilled into the substrate in a grid pattern, then attachment using the supplied masonry plugs. They may also be directly screwed onto softer surfaces such as timber without predrilling.
Note: Countersunk design TGSI's come supplied with 316 Marine Grade stainless steel screws and plastic masonry pugs. If required the supplier can supply templates for drilling the 8mm holes in the correct grid pattern.
TGSI Plates
(300x600mm Stainless steel plates with 72 TGSIs.)
Large stainless steel plates with 72 individual tactile indicators Permanently welded in a grid pattern to each one, they are for use on carpeted surfaces, metal surfaces such as escalators and almost any other substrate available.
The easiest tactile indicators to install, these can be adhered to any surface using either good quality construction adhesive or a two part epoxy resin adhesive.
More Details
. All Tactile Designs' ground surface products are made of high quality 316 marine grade stainless steel. They are corrosion proof and impervious to UV, water and marine environments. They have been designed to withstand the roughest of inclement weather.
. Each tactile is individually mirror polished and individually blister packaged.
. Tactile Designs TGSI's are specially designed for applications where rubber or concrete based TGSI's may compromise the aesthetics of the location.
APPLICATIONS
Include sporting stadiums, hotels, office buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, convention centres and public transport facilities etc.
Installation
Tactile Designs TGSI's can be either drilled onto or directly fixed to any new or existing, stable surface or substrate, Tactile Designs TGSI's can be installed onto any ceramic tile, vitrified tile, glass, granite, travitine, steel, brick, concrete, screed, limestone, sandstone, pavers, slate tile, timber, parquetry, vitrified porcelain, vinyl and masonry.
All indicator types are made from high quality 316 marine grade stainless steel and will easily withstand the toughest weather conditions and highest pedestrian traffic areas.
The manufacturer recommends that the stemmed TGSI's are only used where the substrate can be easily drilled e.g. concrete, timber, parquetry etc.
Tactile Designs can provide information as to what design TGSI is appropriate for individual surfaces and what are the best adhesives to use.
The Building Code of Australia specifies in what situations TGSI must be installed. To comply with the BCA the installation must be in full compliance with the relevant sections of the current AS1428.4. Tactile ground surface indicators for the orientation of people with vision impairment. This standard provides specifications on the form of TGSI and on their installation. Refer to this standard to determine the luminance contrast required between the TGSI and the surrounding ground surface and for installation details including width, length and location for a wide range of applications
Standards
Specific Australian Standards or other Standard(s) may be applicable for materials, manufacturing processes, or installation of some types of equipment. Compliance with relevant Standards is indicated by written certification that a product has been tested and assessed as compliant with specific Standards. Purchasers are advised to check with the supplier or manufacturer of this item as to its compliance with relevant Standard(s).
The tactile indicators have all been through CSIRO testing and fully comply with Australian standards.
