Short Description

A range of slimline battery operated stairlifts for straight and curved stairs. The straight stairlift is available with a standard seat, a sit and stand model or as a stand up model with a perching seat. The curved stairlift is for indoor seated use only. It has a rack and pinion drive and the track is stair mounted. and features an onboard diagnostic control panel. Straight models are available for both indoor and outdoor use.

Options

Acorn 120
Hinged Rail at bottom of stairs. Where the lower track may be an obstacle, that section is hinged so can fold out of the way when stairlift is not in use

Bison 50
Powered Swivel. When turning the seat may be difficult for the client.
Powered footplate. When folding the footrest may be difficult. Powered hinged rail at bottom of stairs possible. Where the lower track may be an obstacle, that section is hinged so can fold out of the way when stairlift is not in use

Acorn 80
The curved stairlift features parking bend, or hinged options that allow the stairlift to be parked conveniently off the staircase both at the top and bottom of the stairs, as well as a powered swivel seat and powered footrest.

Models

Sit Down Model - Acorn Superglide 120
For those who need a seating position, this model has a full swivel seat allowing the user to turn a full 90 degrees when the chair stops at the top of the stairway. This means the user can exit the lift with both feet on the level landing. When not in use the chair folds allowing free access for pedestrian traffic. Suitable for straight staircases only.

Sit Down Model - Acorn 50 (previously known as Bison 50)
For those who need a seating position, this model has the option of a powered swivel seat allowing an automatic turn of a full 90 degrees when the chair stops at the top of the stairway. This means the user can exit the lift with both feet on the level landing. There is also the option with this lift of a linked footplate, when folding the footrest may be difficult. Suitable for straight staircases only.

Sit & Stand Model - Acorn Superglide 120
This allows the user(s) of the stair lift to choose to ascend / descend the stairs in either the usual seated position or to stand on the footrest, whilst holding onto a special folding steady / security bar for stability. It is suitable for those who may have problems with bending their knees, or where multiple users with different requirements will be using the stair lift. Suitable for straight staircases only.

Stand Up Model (Standing / Perch Seat Model) - Superglide 120
Suitable where the stairs are narrow, or because the users legs will not bend enough to allow them to sit down on the stairlift. It is operated by the remote control system, or alternatively with the wander lead control which can be positioned for maximum comfort and ease of operation. Suitable for straight staircases only.

Outdoor Model - Acorn Outdoor Superglide
This is for situations involving any straight staircase that is exposed to the elements, including garden steps, sun decks, porches, front stoops and garage or basement steps. It is resistant to salt air. Suitable for straight staircases only.

Curved Rail Model - Acorn 80 (previously known as Bison 80)
For indoor stairs with a bend or a change in direction, the Acorn 80 curved stairlift accommodates most stairs and can be used over two or more levels in multi-level homes. Seated models only

* The swivel seat allows the user the ability to turn a full 90 degrees when the chair stops at the top of the stairway. This is operated by a lever on the uppermost side of the seat. This means the passenger can exit the lift with both feet on the level landing.

Safety Features
* Five obstacle sensors - the lift stops when a sensor detects an obstacle
* Electronic and mechanical braking systems. The stair lift is fitted as standard with these safety systems to eliminate any possibility of an uncontrolled descent of the stair lift.

Power
* Safe 24 volt rechargeable batteries
* The batteries are maintenance free and charged by a safe 15 volts AC, which is stepped down from the domestic mains supply by the transformer
* Onboard diagnostic control panel allows easy identification of problems with the stairlift
* An LED number display at the side of the unit indicates normal operation, or a fault exists. Allows fast diagnosis and remedy of most potential faults
* Soft start/stop means no jolts of bumps during a smooth journey up or down stairs
* Outdoor models are supplied with a waterproof cover for the motor and drive parts.

Specification
* Each Acorn 80 is custom built to suit each staircase, with options for accommodating both flat and winding turns, and travelling on the inside or outside of the bends
* Detail specification must be confirmed at a home assessment visit by a trained stairlift surveyor

Installation

In NSW the owner or controller of the lift (if not the owner) is required to register their lift with WorkCover. They need to complete Form PL2 Application For Item Registration of Lift / Escalator and Moving Walkway. A fee is charged for a lift installed in a public place. There is no fee for a stairlift installed in a private residence for use by a person with a disability. The applicant must state that the plant has been inspected by a competent person and is safe to operate (use).

Installation takes little over an hour for straight stairlifts, and around half a day for the curved stairlifts

It is recommended that the lift be inspected annually by a competent person. WorkCover requires payment for registration as well as an annual fee. Verified by Workcover Registration Number LEM6-92618/06 for the Superglide Straight Stairlift and LEM6-105920/08 for the Acorn 80 Curved Stairlift.

It is an offence to operate plant that is not correctly registered under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001.

It is an offence under the Home Building Act for a company to advertise, offer for sale or install a stairlift without the appropriate licence.
