Part 1 (the first seven chapters) deal with responsibilities in the workplace to reduce injury including duty of care and the provisions of the occupational health and safety Act. Back care programs are explained with exercise routines illustrated with photographs and diagrams and injury management advice is provided. Chapter 7 describes the client assessment process.
Part 2 of the book provides detailed well illustrated advice on a no lift approach to the manual handling of clients. The author explains techniques to assist bed mobility, assisting clients to stand,sit and walk and using manual handling equipment such as hoists.
