- Colour contrast between the print, push pads and background.
- Simplicity of functions.
- Size and clarity of print.
- Size of handset, especially width.

- Head phone sockets.
- On screen display of volume selected.
- Some remote controls have teletext functions.
Some assistive technology needs to meet Australian or other standards. Standards may relate to materials, manufacturing and installation.
