The ILC NSW has provided disability access advice to the industry for more than ten years and is a leader in this new and expanding field of expertise.

ILC Access is a consultancy service of the Independent Living Centre NSW. Our Access consultants audit buildings, conceptual designs, and architectural drawings to ascertain compliance with legislation for access for people with disabilities.

We provide ongoing advice throughout the design and construction phases to ensure both design and legislative requirements are met. We also produce Access audit reports detailing the barriers to access and solutions to overcome these barriers.

Who is Access For?

Audits & advice

The Access Consultancy Service assists owners; managers and developers of buildings, facilities and the wider community to identify the level of accessibility of existing or proposed premises and facilities. We provide comprehensive access audits and advice to anyone in the industry who needs to meet the requirements of the Building Code of Australia, the Disability Discrimination Act and other legislation.

Some of our past projects have had us working with major sporting venues, high-rise buildings, large-scale residential developments, open spaces, aged care and childcare facilities, and entertainment venues.

We also provide a free telephone information service about your obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act, the Building Code of Australia, local government regulations and state planning policies that cover accessibility and adaptability.

Over a decade of experience & leadership

Our multidisciplinary access team have a thorough understanding of the needs of people with a wide range of disabilities. They have specific knowledge of the access requirements of the Building Code of Australia, current Australian Standards for design for access and mobility, and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
